Tour de Fat rolled through town this past Saturday and was the ballyhoo of bikes and beer it promised to be. Thousands of people came out enjoyed the day celebrating bikes, listening to an amazing line-up of entertainment and enjoying New Belgium Brewery's tasty portfolio of beer. A big FAT thank you to our dear friends at New Belgium Brewery for making the whole kit and caboodle possible -- together we raised over $38,000 for the SF Bicycle Coalition and the Bay Area Ridge Trail Council! See photos of the day at sfgate.com and on flickr.com.
Hi-fives all around! Thanks to the 150+ awesome volunteers who made Tour de Fat a smooth success. And thanks to the Clean City Coalition for helping us keep the event green by handling all of the recycling and compost! Not only was trash kept from the landfill, but the entire event was solar-powered, and 970 bikes were parked with the SF Bicycle Coalition's complimentary Bike Valet. One car was even taken off the road for good when Ana Marie Quinonez committed to going car-free, donating her car to the SF Bicycle Coalition in trade for a beautiful new bicycle courtesy of New Belgium Brewery and the SF Bicycle Coalition!
